The impulse behind this initiative was to create an ideal (or as near as we can get) environment for our children - to nurture and protect and to create a "haven" for childhood. The Waldorf curriculum for us was the perfect vehicle for this goal.
We wish this impulse to be nurtured and fostered - not only by us but by the community involved in it. For a Waldorf kindergarten to thrive it needs to be carried and protected by the teachers and parents.
To enable this we have established the Acacia Tree Nursery School Accociation with a Council of Management and a College of Teachers. We have been awarded registration as a Non-profit Organisation in 2010. This is in line with the Federation of Waldorf Education's recommendations, which reflect the spirit of the Waldorf impulse.
Acacia Tree Nursery School Assocation
The Assocation was formed in March 2009 and all parents and teachers are members of the Assotiation. Each year a Council of Managment is chosen by the members - comprising mostly of parents. The Council of Management is responsible for the practical aspects of running a school. The teachers of the school makes up the College of teachers - who are responsible for the pedagogical aspects of the school.
It is by no means necessary to understand the ideas underlying Waldorf education but many parents are interested in learning more about this way of working with children. For this purpose we periodically present workshops that looks at various aspects of Waldorf education. Please contact Madeleine Muller for more information.
